Thank
you for your interest in the Ankeny Dog Park!
In January,
2008, a task force of citizen volunteers began working with the
City of Ankeny to make an off-leash dog park a reality in our community.
Such
a park would provide a fenced-in, outdoor space for dogs to run
and play off-leash, with specific rules to help ensure a safe and
positive experience for everyone.
Dog parks offer many benefits. They…
|
-
Provide socialization and exercise opportunities for dogs
and their owners.
-
Create a welcome place for neighbors and dogs to meet.
-
Help reduce undesirable behaviors and make dogs better
community members.
-
Are appealing neighborhood amenities for newcomers.
-
Provide a safe place for the elderly or disabled to exercise
their dogs.
-
Reduce the number of dogs off-leash in other areas.
-
Promote responsible dog ownership.
-
Offer a designated area for dog-related events.
If
you’re a dog-lover, we invite you to join us. Many opportunities
for involvement and/or financial support exist. |
